Chris Lioutas

Chris is a highly respected investment professional with over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. He is known for his expertise in investment strategy, product analysis, and advisory firm operations, delivering objective, data-driven recommendations based on rigorous evaluation. Chris has a deep understanding of the needs of financial advisory firms, gained through his leadership at Genium and his prior role at Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA). He is recognised for his thorough approach to assessing investment products, asset allocation, and market dynamics. Before founding Genium, Chris worked in advice research at CBA, specialising in managed funds, listed securities, and economic and geopolitical analysis. His work helped shape investment strategies for advisers and their clients. Chris holds a Bachelor of Applied Finance, a Bachelor of Commerce (Professional Accounting), and a Master of Applied Finance, all from Macquarie University.

Tim is a leading authority in investment research with over 17 years of experience in the financial services industry. As Co-CEO and Head of Research at Genium, he oversees the business and leads the firm’s research ratings process and team, ensuring the highest standards of analytical rigor and consistency. Before joining Genium in 2023, Tim spent nearly two decades at Morningstar, where he shaped the firm’s research capabilities across Asia Pacific. As Director of Manager Research, Tim led global teams and was instrumental in developing a best-in-class research function. His leadership in ratings for managed funds, ETFs, and LICs, coupled with his oversight of the Australian and New Zealand model portfolios, cemented his reputation as a pioneering figure in the industry. Tim’s expertise is backed by strong academic and professional credentials. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Applied Finance, along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting, all from Macquarie University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), and has completed the Investment Management Workshop at Harvard Business School.

Leo is a strategic operational leader with 25 years of financial services experience. As General Manager, Strategy & Operations at Genium, he directs the firm's growth trajectory while overseeing operational excellence and client relationship management. Before joining Genium in August 2023, Leo served as Head of Product Strategy at MLC Asset Management, where he identified strategic growth opportunities through market analysis and product innovation. His extensive background includes senior leadership positions across product management, investment research and fiduciary governance at prominent institutions including BTFG, ANZ Wealth and MLC. Throughout his career, Leo has demonstrated exceptional skill in building robust operational frameworks and implementing strategic initiatives that drive organisational growth and strengthen client relationships. Leo holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Sydney.

Before joining Genium in October 2024, Andrew established himself as a Sales Director at Mason Stevens, where he took command of investment and platform solutions with a strategic, results-oriented approach. His professional foundation includes 14 years at Macquarie, where he refined his expertise across various sales and advice functions, contributing to his now 15+ years of industry experience. Andrew's methodical approach to relationship management and investment solutions perfectly aligns with Genium's commitment to rigorous analysis and principal-led service. Andrew holds a Diploma in Business Management

Shane brings exceptional depth to Genium's client relationships, leading our consulting function across financial advice businesses and not-for-profit clients. His expertise extends to portfolio construction, asset allocation research, and investment committee representation, where his analytical precision contributes to thoughtful investment guidance. Before joining Genium in 2024, Shane distinguished himself at Mercer as a Senior Investment Consultant for seven years, where he directed client teams supporting advice licensees and endowment & foundation clients with critical asset allocation, portfolio construction and manager selection decisions. His career foundations were established at CBA, where he operated within the Advice Research team, providing sophisticated consulting and research services to financial advisers and licensees. Shane's professional background also includes roles as a research ratings analyst at Standard & Poor's and in key accounts at Challenger. His comprehensive understanding of both investment theory and practical application ensures clients receive advice that is both academically sound and commercially relevant. Shane holds a Bachelor of Business – Applied Economics from Victoria University and a Diploma of Financial Planning from Deakin University.

Jayden Ribarovski is an Investment Consultant at Genium Investment Partners, a specialist investment consulting and research house. Jayden partners with financial advice groups to deliver tailored portfolio solutions and insights, and is responsible for research coverage of Australian direct equities. He contributes to portfolio construction, asset allocation research, and investment committee functions. Jayden joined Genium as an Investment Analyst in 2022. Prior to this, Jayden worked in multiple roles at PSK Private Wealth, where he was an analyst supporting two financial advisors, preparing and structuring investment advice for individual clients. He has also held roles in compliance, risk, corporate super, and administration. He has eight years’ experience. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics and Finance) from the University of Wollongong. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation

Justin brings over three decades of financial markets expertise to Genium, with responsibility for conducting manager research ratings across all asset classes. His comprehensive assessment methodology ensures investment strategies are evaluated with exceptional thoroughness and intellectual rigour. His career, which began in 1990, spans multiple disciplines within financial services, providing him with a rare breadth of perspective. After initial positions in banking and accounting, Justin moved into manager research in 1998 at Macquarie, establishing what would become a distinguished career in research and asset consulting. Following his time as an asset consultant at Towers Perrin (now part of Russell Investments), Justin led Morningstar's research function as Head of Research from 2003-2006. His subsequent career includes principal roles in funds management at prestigious institutions including Perpetual and State Street, followed by index provision at MSCI and FTSE Russell. Before joining Genium in early 2024, Justin returned to Morningstar as Associate Director in a senior manager research role from late 2021. Justin holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of New South Wales, complemented by a postgraduate diploma in accounting and a Master of Applied Finance, both from Macquarie University.

Simon Scott works as an analyst in the research team at Genium Investment Partners, a specialist investment consulting and research house. Prior to joining Genium in 2025, Simon served as a Senior Principal at Morningstar where he was the Global Asset Class Lead for Alternative Strategies, taking overall leadership for the firm's strategy research and ratings in that area. Before joining Morningstar in 2018, Simon was responsible for unlisted fund research and the delivery of model portfolios and asset-allocation advice at Macquarie Private Wealth. He also spent five years with Standard & Poor’s Fund Ratings, where he was the Asia-Pacific sector head for structured products and alternative investments. Before coming to Australia in 2004, Simon worked in structured credit and alternative fixed income for a private investment and advisory firm and across equity and credit derivatives roles at several investment banks in the UK. Simon holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from City, University of London, a Master of Liberal Arts (Finance) from Harvard University, and a Master of Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University.

Before joining Genium, Tim established himself as a director for fixed-income strategies at Morningstar Australasia Pty Ltd, where he conducted authoritative research on Australian and New Zealand fund managers and their funds. His tenure at Morningstar, which began in 2008, was marked by consistently penetrating analysis and market insights. Tim's professional background includes experience as a senior financial analyst at the New South Wales Treasury, where he developed a foundation of public sector financial assessment that enhances his private market perspective. His detailed understanding of fixed-income markets and fund manager evaluation methodology reflects Genium's commitment to research excellence and analytical rigour. Tim holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Information Systems from the University of New South Wales and has earned the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Theodore (Theo) serves as a Senior Investment Analyst within Genium's consulting division, where he leads the development and maintenance of investment consulting frameworks with particular emphasis on investment product analysis across all asset classes, portfolio construction and management. Since joining Genium in 2020, Theo has applied his 25+ years of industry experience to enhance the firm's analytical capabilities and client outcomes. His professional background traverses the breadth of financial services, encompassing senior research and strategy positions at prominent institutions including Coolabah Capital Investments, Centrepoint Alliance, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and AMP Financial Services. His mathematical background and quantitative approach perfectly complement Genium's dedication to analytical rigour and intellectual thoroughness in investment assessment. Theo holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Mathematics) from Western Sydney University and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investments from Kaplan (FINSIA). His professional credentials were further distinguished in 2011 when he was awarded the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) scholarship and subsequently achieved the CIMA designation through the CIMA Society of Australia.

Ben Feneley joined Genium in July 2025 as a Quantitative Analyst, where he leads the development and implementation of portfolio analytics solutions. Prior to joining Genium, he was a Strategic Consultant at FactSet, overseeing the Partnerships team across the Asia-Pacific region, which involved delivering investment analytics solutions for a range of superannuation funds, asset managers, and wealth platform providers. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Finance from Macquarie University and has passed Level II of the CFA Program.

Vi Nguyen is an Investment Intern at Genium Investment Partners, a specialist investment consulting and research house. She supports fund due diligence and portfolio modelling, conducts asset and manager research and performance analytics, develops macro- and industry insights, and prepares investor materials and client communications. Prior to joining Genium in 2025, Vi interned with EY-Parthenon in the Infrastructure Advisory practice, contributing to financial analysis, market research, and due diligence across infrastructure M&A and advisory mandates in the Energy and Transport sectors. She also completed a marketing internship at Nestlé Australia, where she helped optimise e-commerce and brand assets. Vi is completing a Bachelor of Commerce/Advanced Studies, with a double major in Finance and Marketing at the University of Sydney.
